As an employer, it is important to create an environment for your employees that helps them feel appreciated and valued. While pay is certainly important, it is also important to provide additional benefits, other than pay, for your employees.
The cost of hiring and training a new employee is significant. As a result, it is in your best interest to offer your employees benefits that make them want to stay with your appraisal company long term. Additionally, I believe that those who are happy at their job will do better in their work. That is a benefit to you!
These benefits do not need to be extravagant. Ultimately it is the little things that go a long way. Buy your appraisal staff lunch from time to time. Show them that you care about them. Host company parties and get-togethers. Be flexible in requests for time off. These are all somewhat minor things that can make a big difference in your employees’ lives.
These little benefits that you provide to your employees are somewhat low in cost for you, but highly valuable to them. Your staff will be less likely to look for or take another job (even if it pays better) if the benefits of working for your appraisal company are highly valuable.
