Supporting Your International VA’s

Do you have a virtual assistant hired? Many appraisers have found this to be a great way to get needed tasks accomplished without having to do them yourself. You may have hired someone locally. And if that’s the case, you probably have provided the necessary resources and hardware for your employee to be successful, as any good employer would. Making sure they have double monitors, an updated laptop or desktop, strong hardware, and necessary supplies will help them accomplish those tasks you give them and help them be successful in doing your work faster. And if you forgot something or happen to need a little bit more? Amazon is a quick click away providing you with anything and everything you could ever think of to need.

Appraisers have also found it cost effective and worthwhile to hire a virtual assistant or two overseas, in places like the Philippines or India. This could put you in a position to rub virtual shoulders with incredible people who have great skills, talents, and experience to offer. And although they may be a great asset in this way, sometimes they are less than prepared when it comes to the hardware. It’s about a 50/50 chance they have two monitors in the first place. But you know that assisting them in having what they need will be a win-win situation, so how can you support them? If you hop on Amazon, you’ll find that shipping a $350 laptop would cost you about another $350 in shipping (doubling the price and making that option less appealing).

Certainly there must be a better way, and there is! It’s called Lazada.com.ph, an online shopping source in the Philippines. Check it out, it will be the first place you go when you need to give your employees overseas support. It’s important to provide your virtual assistants with the resources that will help them be successful. Now, whether they are your backyard neighbor or live on the other side of the world, you’ll be able to do just that. And in the end, what’s a win for them is a win for you because of the value they can create for your business when they are equipped well.

  1. are you suggesting we buy someone in India who is our form filler a computer or monitor? Isn’t that why we hire an VA so we have less expenses. I am sorry but this is the most ludicrous idea i have ever heard.

  2. I actually sent my VA a new laptop and she has been knocking it out of the park for a year now! Greatest investment I have made in terms of productivity other. Thanks Dustin and keep up the good work.

  3. In the past, I’ve just asked my VA to go out and price things they need, then I’ve sent them extra money on their paycheck to help them buy it. Most often, they can find a better deal than I can. One of my VAs found a used second monitor that cost almost nothing.

  4. its an ok post – but how about a tutorial on how to obtain a VA – how to vet one out from a scammer – how to pay them legally etc

  5. In other words, do what ever it takes to churn and burn 4 to 9 appraisals a day so you can be in bed with the AMC’s. I wonder what its like to sleep with the AMC’s and be their pet of the month or year ( https://appraisersblogs.com/alleged-violations-of-appraiser-independence-at-fastapp-amc#comment-36834 ). Sorry Dustin, but with some appraisers churning out reports in the thousands (see link), perhaps its time you revamp your system and shoot for a program that promises 6 to 12 appraisals a day (charge a small fee of course).

With True Footage changing the narrative and becoming a national appraisal company conglomerate, any word on whether the powers that be are going to rewrite the rules to crackdown on your loophole of the system? If AMC’s are regulated and licensed, it would seem the new game your company is playing should be looked into.

Seek the truth, find the truth, tell others about the truth, and above all else, put principles before profits. Or you can outsource to the Philippines for $5 an hour, take work away from deserving Americans, and contribute to the death of an industry.

    1. Why are you still in a dying industry? Time to get out, bitter Bill. I am in a thriving industry and having fun. Speak the truth.

      1. Why are supporting Dustin? He’s a profiteer who led his sheeple to embrace AMC’s while he himself was not drinking the Kool-Aid he was selling (not a fulltime appraiser 2010)? For the record, Dustin doesn’t even own an appraisal business anymore as he is a W2 employee for True Footage. Funny he coached to measure to the nearest 6 inches while selling out to a company named True Footage. Not funny, considering most have not taken my message to heart on this site over the past 5 years.

        Seek the truth.
